Finca Hartmann is one of the pioneers of specialty coffee in Panama, switching to this culture in the late 90s. Located in Santa Clara, Renacimiento, the finca is an agricultural holding managed by the Hartmann family, with the third generation dedicated to coffee cultivation. They spend much of their time around the life cycle of the coffee plant: flowering, green bean development, coffee cherry ripening, harvesting and processing.
All farms are managed in harmony with the environment, using environmentally friendly products in minimal quantities and only when necessary. For them, coffee represents a way of life, a culture and a love. Finca Hartmann comprises several smaller plots, located between 1,300 and 2,000 meters above sea level, with almost 100 hectares of forest reserves bordering the Parque Nacional de La Amistad.
All of the farm's coffees are shade-grown under beneficial native trees, meaning they naturally contribute to enriching the soil through their nitrogen-fixing roots or the seeds they drop, which act as natural fertilizers .
The Natural Process requires that the fresh red cherries, after selection, are left to dry in the sun on raised African beds, where they remain until the humidity reaches 11%.
