ARUCO COOPERATIVE WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2006 BY 14 FARMERS FROM CORQUIN, COPAN. Through their micro-batch program started in 2013, they aim to produce high-scoring specialty coffees. Aruco has more than 200 production partners who, together with their families, are involved in production and harvesting. The Copan region is known as one of the most important coffee regions in Honduras, characterized by varied climatic conditions and its beans carry the geographical indication of Honduran West Coffee (HWC). Aruco is located within the Biosphere Reserve Cacique Lempira, Senor de las Montañas and has an area of 1700 ha of plantations, with altitudes between 1000 and 1600 m. These are cultivated with coffee varieties such as Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai, IHCAFE 90, Lempira , Maragogype, Pacamara, Gesha and Parainema.
